Pierre Mukeba has won The Churchie National Emerging Art Prize for his six large-scale textile paintings. The $15,000 non-acquisitive prize was announced on Saturday 11 November at QUT Art Museum.
Mukeba was born in 1995 in Bukavu, Congo. His work focuses on his experience of growing up in Congo under the shadows of civil war. He and his family were granted asylum in Australia in 2006. Mukeba lives and works in Adelaide. He held his first solo exhibition earlier this year at GAGPROJECTS.
